LC State invites applications for the position of Fire Service Technology Program Coordinator.

Salary and rank based on experience and qualifications: $50,000 (11-month position)

Degree Required:

  • Associate or Associate of Applied Science degree in related field with 5 years of current/recent experience OR
  • Bachelor's degree in a related field with 3 years of current/recent experience.

Required Qualifications:

  • Demonstrated mastery of firefighter basics, hazardous material awareness and operations, building construction, apparatus driver operations, fire investigation, fire strategies and tactics, fire inspection and prevention, incident command system, firefighter survival, wildland firefighting and urban interface, rescue techniques, and alarm and protection systems.

Preferred Qualifications:

  • Marketing, advertising, and/or recruiting experience.
  • Experience instructing adult learners.
  • Experience managing budgets, designing instructional activities, supervising, creating fruitful partnerships, and/or recruiting and retaining students.

Responsibilities:

Recruiting (55%) The primary function of this position will be to develop partnerships with local industries and region schools, recruit students into the Fire Service Technology program, and to implement ways to retain students to successful completion of the program. The position will help develop marketing material, attend recruiting events, visit region high schools, and meet with prospective students. This position will serve as the liaison between marketing, industry, public schools, and the program faculty. This position will work closely with the CTE program assistant and LC State Admissions staff in recruiting efforts and coordination. The program coordinator will oversee and maintain program budget, contribute to college-wide goals and activities by serving on committees and other institutional activities.

Teaching (45%) The candidate will provide instruction and supervision of students in the Fire Service Technology program. The candidate will develop, plan, implement, and revise program and courses, curriculum, and lesson plans. This position will evaluate student progress in attaining goals and objectives; maintain lab equipment and program/personal certification requirements; attend faculty and educational meetings. Applicants are required to complete CTE teacher training courses for Idaho Teaching Certification during the first 3 years of hire. Non-standard hours and online or hybrid instruction may be required.
