LC State invites applications for the position of Dean of Professional Studies & Graduate Studies

Salary and rank based on experience and qualifications: $110,000 - $115,000

Degree Required:

  • Earned Doctorate degree

Required Qualifications:

  • Minimum 5 years of progressively responsible experience in a supervisory capacity within an academic environment at the level of Department Head/ Division Chair, Assistant or Associate Dean.
  • A record of excellence in teaching, scholarship and administration.
  • Leadership in the development of professional programs and course offerings.
  • Proven experience in program level assessment and specialized accreditation.
  • Qualifications suitable for tenure at a senior rank in one of the academic divisions in Professional Studies
  • Experience with Graduate programming.

Responsibilities:

  1. The Dean oversees the administrative and academic activities of the divisions within Professional & Graduate Studies, promotes Chair and faculty development, participates in budget and personnel decision-making, and assists in securing external funding to benefit programs in Professional/Graduate Studies.
  2. Advises the Provost on issues relative to academic programs specifically focusing on School of Professional Studies and Graduate programming.
  3. Fosters excellence in instruction and programming at both the undergraduate and graduate levels.
  4. Monitors assessment of programs through program review process, specialized accreditations, and surveys of graduates and employers.
  5. Represents area of responsibility to appropriate community and professional organizations.
  6. Actively participates with Student Affairs and Division personnel to recruit new students.
  7. With the other Deans, actively participate in implementation of the various campus plans. (Strategic, Instructional Enrollment, Recruitment and Retention plans, for example)
  8. Represent LC State as assigned.
