Salary and rank based on experience and qualifications: $62,400

Degree Required:

  • Bachelor's degree from a regionally accredited college or university in a related field.

Required Qualifications:

  • Three years of experience in information security, information technology, risk analysis, or a related field.
  • Experience with information security policy and program development and administration.
  • Experience in applying analytical skills and understanding of cybersecurity analysis procedures and techniques to resolve problems.
  • Ability to clearly and accurately communicate, both written and verbal.

Preferred Qualifications:

  • A Master's Degree in a cybersecurity-related field.
  • Experience in higher education.
  • One or more security certifications from a recognized security organization (e.g., ISACA, (ISC)2, SANS, CompTIA).
  • Experience with the evaluation and writing of cybersecurity risk assessments and information security policies and programs.
  • Demonstrated sensitivity to and understanding of the college community's diverse academic, socioeconomic, cultural, ethnic, and disability backgrounds.

Responsibilities:

  1. Assesses and identifies information security risks, vulnerabilities, and mitigation activities to address them. Characterizes systems, assesses risks through formal and informal risk assessments, and recommends administrative, operational, and technical safeguards to lower risks associated with confidentiality, integrity, availability, and compliance with laws, regulations, contractual or funding agency, or other external requirements.
  2. Assists developing, implementing, and maintaining a written information security program that addresses people, processes, and technology and contains administrative, operational, and technical safeguards in collaboration with the ITS leadership and critical IT staff.
  3. Compiles and analyzes metrics for measuring the success of the information security program and produces reports for management and leadership teams as needed. Provides compliance-related reports and metrics to ITS leadership periodically or when requested.
  4. Participates in vendor contract and security reviews as an integral part of the Information Technology Services request process for college-acquired vendor services and conducts ongoing IT vendor assessment activities.
  5. Participates in evaluating hardware and software acquisitions related to Information Technology security.
  6. Works with auditors and consultants on security compliance audits and control assessment engagements. Coordinates compliance reviews and monitoring activities, including periodic reviews of all departments.
  7. Provides advice and consultation to various campus constituencies on a wide variety of security issues that require an in-depth understanding of the IT environment in their units and the compliance requirements pertaining to their unit's information. Consults with key IT technical staff when needed.
  8. Administers routine information security incident response and reporting plans and protocols to address college information security incidents and respond to alleged policy violations or complaints from external parties.
  9. Investigates reported policy infractions, identifies remediation steps needed and participates as an incident response team member during significant information security incidents.
