LC State is seeking an Adult Education/GED Instructor teaching English, Reading, and ESL in the Adult Learning Center.

This is a part-time position Monday through Thursday; 2:00 pm - 5:00 pm.

Hourly Rate: $18.00 per hour

Required Qualifications:

  • Bachelor's Degree
  • Valid State of Idaho Teaching Certificate
  • Training or experience working with adult learners
  • Experience with individualized competency instruction and group instruction.

Responsibilities:

This position is responsible for instruction, basic skills assessment, curriculum development, computer instruction, orientation, maintenance of Individualized Education Plans (IEP)'s, career related activities, data entry, reports, and other duties as assigned.

Specific duties:

  1. Interpretation of placement, diagnostic and progress assessments.
  2. Provide one-on-one instruction, small group instruction, and relevant career related activities for adult education students.
  3. Development of an Individualized Education Plan with program participants.
  4. Collaborate with other instructors to develop teaching strategies for individual students.
  5. Maintain appropriate student attendance forms and progress records.
  6. In cooperation with other Adult Learning Center personnel, provide direct instruction in all components of Adult Education.
  7. Refer adult education students to appropriate small group classes.
  8. Assist with student retention and referral.
  9. Assist with provision of appropriate counseling and assessment services for selected students.
  10. Assess student needs through personal interviewing, assessment and career planning.
  11. Schedule weekly sessions with students (group and/or individual) to provide encouragement and monitor progress.
  12. Provide orientation to new students.
  13. Assist with maintaining accurate records for each adult education student.
  14. Plan strategies for and conduct follow up on each student.
  15. Complete all required project reports and submit on a timely basis.
  16. Become familiar with area/campus programs and agencies in order to make appropriate referrals.
  17. Attend selected seminars to keep abreast of current educational practices and labor market information.
  18. Develop strategies for and conduct evaluation of individual student satisfaction with adult education program.
  19. Assist with final project evaluation as require d for reporting purposes.
  20. Participate in meetings and conferences as assigned.
  21. Submit adult education items for publication in public services announcements and other publications.
  22. Other duties as assigned.
