Degree Required:
- Master's degree in Library Science (MLS or MLIS) from an ALA-accredited institution
Required Qualifications:
- 1-2 years of experience in a Library
- Excellent organizational and interpersonal skills, accuracy, and attention to detail.
- Self-motivated and ability to work independently or in a team environment.
- Ability to follow instructions and perform tasks as directed.
- Ability to effectively communicate, interact, and work in a team-based environment.
Preferred Qualifications:
- Previous experience working with an Academic Library.
- Experience using Integrated Library Systems (Ex Libris).
- Previous experience working with Canvas learning management system.
- Knowledge of computer science applications and programming.
Responsibilities:
The Systems and eResource Librarian position will incorporate the skill sets of an analyst as well as that of an academic librarian with knowledge of library systems. This position will
- Work to ensure optimal performance of the library's systems which include Ex Libris (ALMA/PRIMO), EZProxy, and supporting library eResource integration and discoverability into the campus LMS (Canvas).
- Analyze library applications in terms of systems and programming requirements; analyze system and operational problems and preparing recommended solutions; work with users and technical service staff to develop written requirements and specifications for new and modified web-based and client-server applications.
- Monitor industry trends and best practices related to information access and discovery, and recommend improvements to existing tools and workflows as appropriate.
- Provides leadership in developing and maintaining awareness of emerging technologies, standards, and technical issues relating to the research, acquisition, licensing, access, and usage of eResources; recommends and implements new initiatives for managing and processing eResources.
- Utilize campus LMS, Canvas, to develop ways in which to integrate library instruction and research resources into course modules across the curriculum.
- Verifies accuracy and discoverability of both eResources and tangible resources.
- Works with faculty, students, and library staff to curate and provide OER resources that support research and the State of Idaho endeavors.
- Perform research assistance services give guest lectures, and serve on other library and college committees as assigned.
- Coordinate the development and design of web-based tutorials, videos, and other Online learning objects to support library instruction.
- Foster positive relations with faculty, students, and staff and promote the College's and Library's commitment to diversity.
- This is a full-time position. Essential duties must be performed on-site.
