Lewis-Clark State College invites applications for the position of Executive Assistant to the President.

Salary based on experience and qualifications:  $55,000 - $60,000 DOE

Degree Requirement:  Bachelor's degree from an accredited institution

Required Qualifications:

  • An earned Bachelor's degree from an accredited institution is required.
  • Three to five years of administrative experience requiring independent decision-making and good judgment or comparable time serving as an upper level Management Assistant.

Preferred Qualifications:

  • Master's degree desirable.
  • Past administrative experience in higher education is highly preferred.

Summary:

The Executive Assistant to the President is responsible for managing the administrative, operational, and financial affairs of the Office of the President.

The Executive Assistant assists in a variety of duties that enable the president and other administrators to function more effectively. This individual serves as an emissary for the President interacting with other campus administrators, faculty, staff, students, private citizens, local and state government officials and visitors to campus on the international, national, state and local levels.

The Executive Assistant has the authority and accountability delegated by the President when responding to inquiries, resolving complex problems or issues, or committing department resources.

The Executive Assistant is tasked with processing a variety of forms and documents on behalf of the President's Office and is expected to maintain the highest level of confidentiality and professionalism.

Essential Duties and Responsibilities:

  • Represent the President by initiating with others the directives of the President while demonstrating leadership in understanding and contributing to the institutional goals.
  • Support the work, and, work as a collaborative member of the College's leadership, evidencing dedication to total continuous quality improvement and a student-focused learning environment.
  • Demonstrate sound judgment and common sense in decision making and problem solving. Requires independent judgment and discretion. Handle highly confidential and sensitive issues.
  • Make sound decisions regarding which issues necessitate immediate contact and consultation with the President. Review and prioritize requests for meetings, events and engagements for the President.
  • Maintain heightened sensitivity to the public relations aspect of the position and the complexities of the President's Office.
  • Operate the President's Office in an efficient and effective manner, while demonstrating the ability to identify priorities and handle complex activities.
  • Effectively utilize and supervise personnel (both college and work study employees) and volunteers associated with special projects.
  • Communicate effectively, orally and in writing.
  • Coordinate activities across the institution and with  outside agencies.
  • Participate in occasional weekend and evening events, as well as occasional business travel.
  • Represent the interests of the President's Office on committees and task forces.
  • Interpret, apply, and implement policies and procedures to accomplish the mission of the College.
  • Manage fiscal planning and reporting for the President's Office.
  • Regular attendance is expected.
  • Using tact and courtesy, the ability to establish and maintain effective relationships with persons contacted in the course of work.
